I Became Friends with the Second Cutest Girl in the Class is a high school romantic comedy that begins with the unexpected coming together of two people who are in the shadow of others' expectations. He does not strive for popularity and is used to being invisible, and she seems to always be close to the center of attention, but precisely because of this, she is pressured by the role that her classmates assigned to her. Their friendship is born from little things: joint activities, conversations after classes, random coincidences and the feeling that you can be yourself without a performance. The series gently plays with the usual clichés about high school beauties and quiet boys, but gradually shows that attractiveness does not equal happiness, and status does not protect against loneliness. The closer the heroes become, the more their view of the class and their own dreams changes, because friendship begins to turn into a feeling that is scary to admit due to the risk of ruining everything. This anime is about warm teenage intimacy, humor without malice, and romance that grows out of respect and sincere interest in each other.
